Don’t erect a border between Punjab and India, talk to farmers: CM Mann to Centre

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, while inaugurating the Guru Amar Das Ji power plant in Goindwal Sahib, urged the central government not to create a border between Punjab and India. The event, attended by Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, marked the Punjab government's acquisition of a functional power plant from a private company. Expressing concern about Haryana's efforts to install heavy fencing along national highways and roads at the Punjab border, CM Mann appealed to the central government to engage in dialogue with farmers instead. He questioned the necessity of creating an India-Punjab border and drew parallels with the existing fencing with Pakistan.

Addressing Haryana's move to prevent Punjab farmers from entering on February 13 for a Delhi protest, Mann emphasized the historical contributions of Punjab in providing food and supporting the freedom struggle. He highlighted the sacrifices of soldiers on the border, criticizing the lack of acknowledgment for certain martyrs and addressing the potential erasure of Punjab from the national anthem.

In addition, Mann criticized Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal), accusing them of using religion against him and referencing the Akal Takht's decision. Despite the challenges, he asserted that the people stand with him against attempts to thwart his leadership.
