George Galloway vows his party will take Angela Rayner's seat
George Galloway pledges his party will secure Angela Rayner's seat in the upcoming elections.
As of my last knowledge update in January 2022, George Galloway won a by-election and expressed intentions to contest Angela Rayner's seat in the next election. He emphasized his party's potential to overturn Rayner's majority in Ashton-under-Lyne, citing support in the constituency.
Galloway, expelled from Labour in 2003, linked his recent win in Rochdale to his stance on Gaza. He asserted that his initial words in Parliament would focus on Gaza, expressing a desire to speak during PMQs.
Regarding questions about Hamas and Gaza, Galloway criticized the inquiry as "dripping with imperial condescension" and advocated against foreign interference in local matters. He acknowledged the existence of Israel but contended that no state has an inherent right to exist.
In his speech, Galloway invoked the Holocaust, asserting that if the by-election had occurred in the early 1940s, discussing Holocaust crimes would have been justifiable. It's important to note that such comparisons are flagged by the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance's definition of antisemitism.
