John Chambers at Idea Exchange: ‘India will outgrow the rest of the world if it continues on the path of inclusion’

In an interview with Sandeep Singh, Editor (Mumbai), John Chambers, Chairman of the US-India Strategic Partnership Forum, expressed optimism about India's potential to become a superpower. Chambers highlighted key factors contributing to this belief, including the significant annual education of millions of engineers and the prevailing entrepreneurial spirit in the country. He emphasized the importance of startups and small businesses, foreseeing them playing a pivotal role in India's future growth and employment.

When questioned about India's trajectory towards superpower status, Chambers credited Prime Minister Modi for outlining a clear vision and strategy. He asserted that if the policies implemented by Modi's administration remain robust for the next decade, India could secure its position as the leading economy globally. Chambers projected India to surpass the United States by around 30% and potentially outpace China by 90% in the future. The timeline for achieving this status, Chambers explained, would depend on the nation's growth rate and inclusivity across all states and sectors.

Chambers underscored that sustained growth and inclusivity would be crucial factors determining India's ascent to superpower status, emphasizing the need for broad-based opportunities in sectors like agriculture and healthcare. Overall, Chambers expressed excitement about India's future if these conditions are met.
