Arvind Kejriwal's "10 Poll Guarantees" Include Giving Delhi Statehood

New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has announced a set of '10 guarantees' as part of AAP's electoral promises for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. These guarantees span a wide range of public welfare initiatives, reflecting Kejriwal's vision for a better future for India. The AAP leader emphasized the failures of the BJP in fulfilling its promises and highlighted the proven track record of his guarantees.

"BJP has always failed on its promises; my guarantees have a proven track record," Mr. Kejriwal said. "People have to decide whether to go for 'Kejriwal ki Guarantee' or 'Modi Guarantee.'"

Central to Mr. Kejriwal's electoral commitments is the pledge to provide free electricity for all, with a particular focus on economically disadvantaged sections of society. He advocated for replicating Delhi's model of uninterrupted power supply nationwide.

"Out of the 10 guarantees, the first is that we will provide 24-hour electricity across the country. Our country has the capacity to generate 3 lakh MW of electricity, but the usage is only 2 lakh MW. We have done it in Delhi and Punjab, and we will do it across the country. We will provide up to 200 units of free electricity to all the poor. It will cost ₹1.25 lakh crore, but we can arrange it," Mr. Kejriwal stated.

Second on the list of guarantees is the revamping of education in government schools. Mr. Kejriwal asserted that ₹5 lakh crore would be needed for this, with state governments and the Centre sharing the cost equally.

"Today, the condition of our government schools is not good. Our second guarantee is that we will provide good and excellent free education for everyone. Government schools will offer better education than private schools. We have done it in Delhi and Punjab. ₹5 lakh crore will be required for this. State governments will contribute ₹2.5 lakh crore, and the central government will provide the remaining ₹2.5 crore," he said.

The AAP leader also placed a ₹5 lakh crore price tag on overhauling government hospitals and improving India's healthcare infrastructure.

"The condition of our government hospitals in our country is not good. Our third guarantee is better healthcare. We will provide good treatment for everyone. Mohalla clinics will be opened in every village and locality. District hospitals will be converted into Multispeciality Hospitals. Every person born in this country will receive free treatment. Treatment will not be based on insurance as it is a big scam. We will create infrastructure. ₹5 lakh crore will be spent on healthcare," Mr. Kejriwal emphasized.

Other guarantees on the list include "freeing" Indian land from Chinese control, shutting down the Agniveer scheme, providing farmers with MSP as per the Swaminathan Commission report, and granting full statehood to Delhi.

"Our fourth guarantee is 'Nation first'. China has occupied our land, but our central government denies it...Our army is strong. All the land occupied by China will be reclaimed. Efforts will be made at the diplomatic level, and the Army will be given complete freedom to take necessary steps. The Agniveer scheme is harmful to the army, and youth are troubled by it. The Agniveer scheme will be withdrawn," Mr. Kejriwal concluded.
