Shinde Sena's Rajesh Shah, father of Mumbai BMW hit-and-run accused, granted bail

A Mumbai court has granted bail to Rajesh Shah, a Shinde Sena leader, in connection with a hit-and-run case involving his son, Mihir Shah. Rajesh Shah was released on a bond of Rs 15,000 after being arrested for questioning by the police. The incident, which occurred on Sunday, July 7, involved a BMW car allegedly driven by Mihir Shah, which collided with a scooter, resulting in the death of Kaveri Nakhaw and injuries to her husband, Pradip Nakhaw.

The tragic accident took place in the Worli area of Mumbai, near Atria Mall, around 5:30 am. The victims, who lived in the Koliwada area, were returning from Sassoon Dock after purchasing fish when the BMW, registered in Rajesh Shah's name, struck them from behind. Kaveri Nakhaw, aged 45, succumbed to her injuries during treatment, while her husband, Pradip Nakhaw, aged 50, suffered severe injuries.

Mihir Shah, 24, has been missing since the incident. His father, Rajesh Shah, who holds a deputy leadership position in the Shinde Sena in Palghar district, was apprehended by the police for an extended interrogation. Additionally, Rajesh Shah's driver, Rajrishi Bidawat, who was present in the vehicle at the time of the accident, has also been detained by the authorities.

This case has drawn significant attention, not only because of the tragic loss of life but also due to the involvement of a prominent political figure. Rajesh Shah's arrest and subsequent release on bail highlight the legal processes in high-profile cases and the ongoing efforts to locate Mihir Shah, who remains at large.

As the investigation continues, the police are focusing on gathering more evidence and testimonies to build a comprehensive case. The incident has sparked discussions on road safety and the responsibilities of vehicle owners and drivers, especially in cases involving high-speed and reckless driving. The Nakhaw family and the local community are calling for justice and stricter enforcement of traffic laws to prevent such tragedies in the future.
