Suzuki unveils 10-year tech strategy for global markets including India.

Suzuki Motor Corporation (SMC) has unveiled a new 10-year plan designed to minimize energy consumption throughout its vehicle manufacturing and recycling processes. Central to this initiative is the transition from a linear economy to a circular economy, aiming to enhance efficiency in resource usage and recycling while reducing environmental impact.

Traditionally, the linear economy follows a one-way path from raw material extraction to production, consumption, and disposal. Suzuki intends to transform this cycle into a circular one, promoting efficiency gains, increased recycling rates, and mitigating natural resource depletion and overconsumption.

SMC plans to bolster its lightweight platforms such as HEARTECT, which optimize resource and energy usage while maximizing efficiency. Additionally, the company has developed a new high-efficiency internal combustion engine, the Z12E, boasting a remarkable thermal efficiency of up to 40%. This engine will be launched globally and paired with carbon-neutral fuels (CNF) and next-generation hybrid technologies.

Looking ahead, Suzuki aims to introduce high-efficiency battery electric vehicles (BEV) that are compact, energy-efficient, and feature lightweight batteries. Another focus area is software-defined vehicles (SDV), where Suzuki plans to offer customizable and cost-effective systems tailored to individual needs. This approach will integrate the best of wireless and wired OTA (over-the-air) technologies to further reduce energy consumption.

Furthermore, SMC plans to optimize development costs by sharing hardware components and reusing software across its vehicle lineup. These initiatives underscore Suzuki's commitment to sustainable manufacturing practices and technological innovation in the automotive industry.
