NSG, NIA teams probe 'mysterious' blast outside CRPF school in Delhi's Rohini.

Teams from the National Security Guard (NSG) and the National Investigation Agency (NIA) have arrived at the blast site alongside the Delhi Police's Special Cell to investigate the explosion's cause and explore any potential terrorist connections.

This morning, a blast was reported near the CRPF School in Sector 14, Rohini, damaging nearby structures, though no injuries were reported, according to police officials on Sunday.

A police spokesperson stated, “At around 7:47 AM, we received a PCR call regarding a blast near the CRPF School in Sector 14, Rohini. The caller reported hearing a loud noise.” Upon arrival, officers discovered damage to a section of the school wall and noted a foul odor at the scene. Forensic experts identified a suspicious “white powder” at the site, which has been sent for laboratory analysis, along with soil samples. A senior police officer indicated, “The white powder may be a mixture of ammonium nitrate and chloride, as a chemical smell was present post-blast, which was also noticed by local residents and responding officers. Our teams are looking into the matter.”

“Determining whether this substance is an explosive will require thorough examination. We suspect a crude bomb may have caused the explosion,” another senior official commented.

In addition to the school wall, nearby property was affected; “Windows of a nearby shop and a parked car were damaged due to the blast,” a police officer reported. Fortunately, there were no injuries.

Authorities have secured the area, deploying specialized teams for the investigation. Meanwhile, Chief Minister Atishi took to X to express concern, stating, “The bomb blast outside a school in Rohini highlights Delhi's inadequate security measures.”

She criticized the central government's handling of law and order in Delhi, claiming, “The BJP is more focused on undermining the elected government than addressing security issues. This neglect has left Delhi resembling the Mumbai underworld of the 1990s. If the people of Delhi mistakenly grant them governance, they risk repeating this failure in schools, hospitals, electricity, and water services, which are essential for maintaining order.”
