Police confirm swatting incident targeting Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene's house on Christmas

On Monday, Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene, a Republican from Georgia, revealed that she had experienced another "swatting" incident at her residence in Georgia, a situation later confirmed by local authorities to NBC News.

In a post on X, Greene expressed, "I was just swatted. This is like the 8th time. On Christmas with my family here."

Major Rodney Bailey of the Rome, Georgia police department reported that an individual from Rome, New York, made a call to the suicide hotline, falsely claiming to have shot his girlfriend at Greene’s Georgia address and threatening to harm himself next.

Upon receiving the call, police contacted Greene's local security liaison to notify her team about the situation. However, after assessing the information, Greene's security team determined that officers did not need to respond to her home. Consequently, the planned police response was cancelled, as detailed by Bailey.

In a post on Monday, Greene expressed gratitude to her local police, stating, "My local police are the GREATEST and shouldn’t have to deal with this. I appreciate them so much, and my family and I are in joyous spirits celebrating the birth of our Savior Jesus Christ!"

"Swatting" is a deceptive act where someone falsely reports a crime in progress to prompt a police response at a specific location.

This incident marks not the first time that Greene has been a target of swatting. In the previous year, false reports of shootings near her home, situated approximately 70 miles northwest of Atlanta, were made, leading to in-person police responses that later determined the reports were false.

Marjorie Taylor Greene serves as the representative for Georgia's 14th Congressional District, encompassing the northwestern part of the state, including the cities of Rome, Dalton, and Calhoun.
