5 skeletons were found in a Karnataka house, dead of the same family
Mysterious discovery in Karnataka: 5 skeletons found in a family's house. Tragic end raises questions, prompting investigation into the grim incident.
The remains of five individuals were discovered in a rundown residence in Chitradurga, Karnataka, sparking suspicions that the deaths occurred in 2019. The precise cause and circumstances surrounding the deaths remain unknown.
Unearthed by a resident who entered the seemingly abandoned structure and encountered a skeleton, the revelation prompted further investigation. The dilapidated main door was found broken when authorities arrived at the scene in response to a tip from a journalist.
The deceased were identified as Jagannath Reddy (80), a retired PWD engineer, his wife Premakka (72), and their three children — Triveni (55), Krishna (51), and Narendra (53). Four skeletons were found in the initial room, two on a bed and two on the floor, while the fifth was discovered in another room in a "sleeping position."
The property documents indicate that the house belongs to Jagannath. Neighbours revealed that only Krishna Reddy was seen outside for daily purchases until mid-2019. The family maintained a reclusive lifestyle, rarely interacting with others. Household items, including a 2019 calendar and the last paid electricity bill, suggest that the deaths occurred in 2019, though forensic examinations are required for confirmation.
The power supply was cut off in January 2019 due to unpaid bills, and neighbours reported that the family had not been seen since June or July 2019. The family communicated through a window, and signs of intrusion and possible ransacking of the house have prompted additional investigations.
The police have also discovered that Narendra faced imprisonment in 2013 on robbery allegations. Karnataka's Home Minister, G Parameshwara, emphasized that the cause of death, whether suicide or homicide, remains unknown pending the ongoing investigation and forensic analysis. Samples have been sent to a forensic lab for further examination.
