Japan to accept earthquake relief from US only

Four days post the devastating earthquake on the Noto Peninsula claiming ninety-one lives, Japan, as reported by Nikkei, plans to accept a U.S. rescue team but declines assistance from other nations. Top spokesperson Yoshimasa Hayashi cited the current ground situation and the complexities of receiving aid. Discussions between the U.S. and Japan on deploying soldiers to Noto are ongoing.

Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida acknowledged sympathy messages and assistance offers from Taiwan and China.
