GAFX 2024: Karnataka announces digital detox initiative from gaming.
The Karnataka government, in partnership with the All India Game Developers Forum (AIGDF), is set to introduce a Digital Detox Initiative.
During the valedictory function of GAFX2024, Priyank Kharge, the Minister for Rural Development and Panchayat Raj and ITBT, announced the launch of the Digital Detox Initiative, emphasizing its role in advancing Karnataka into a digitally empowered state while promoting responsible technology usage. Kharge highlighted the government's commitment to raising awareness about the drawbacks associated with excessive gaming and fostering a culture of responsible gaming.
He addressed the mental health issues, declining attention spans, and strained interpersonal relationships resulting from overreliance on digital technologies. In today's hyper-connected society, technology has seamlessly integrated into people's lives, with constant screen time becoming the norm. While technology offers convenience and instant connectivity, it also brings significant drawbacks. The initiative seeks to promote meaningful and constructive technology use while mitigating its adverse effects.
