India: Shiv Sena (UBT) politician's son shot dead during Facebook live
As per reports, the incident occurred in the north Mumbai suburb of Dahisar and Abhishek was reportedly rushed to the nearby hospital
Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Vinod Ghosalkar's son, Abhishek, was fatally shot during a Facebook Live session in Mumbai, India, on Thursday (Feb 8). In the viral video, Abhishek Ghosalkar is seen conversing with visitors about local matters. As he stands up, an assailant, Morris Noronha, from his neighbourhood, brandishes a revolver and fires at least three shots. Abhishek, a former BMC Municipal Corporator from Dahisar, collapses and succumbs to gunshot wounds after being rushed to Karuna Hospital in Borivali.
After shooting Ghosalkar, Morris Noronha reportedly turns the gun on himself. The motive behind the attack is speculated to be a personal dispute, although there is no official confirmation yet. Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut criticized the government, claiming "Gunda raj in Maharashtra." Raut asserted that Morris Noronha had visited the Varsha bungalow, where the Chief Minister met him four days prior, and accused the government of failure in maintaining law and order. The incident has sparked political tension, with calls for the resignation of the Home Minister, Fadnavis.
