Bengali actor and Trinamool MP Dev declares his candidacy for the Lok Sabha elections.
Trinamool Congress MP and renowned actor Deepak Adhikari, popularly known as Dev, has put an end to speculation surrounding his political trajectory by confirming his candidacy for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections from West Bengal's Ghatal constituency.
After his impactful speech in the Lok Sabha on the final day of his current tenure, Dev held discussions with AITC General Secretary and fellow TMC MP Abhishek Banerjee on Saturday. This meeting quashed previous rumors regarding any dissatisfaction with his party affiliation or its stance.
Expressing his optimism for the future, Dev stated, "I am eager to continue serving the people of Ghatal and aspire to make the Ghatal model a success, a vision cherished for many decades."
In response to the suspension of a local leader in Ghatal, Dev remarked, "I refrain from intervening in the party's organizational decisions. I have always adhered to leadership directives. Therefore, only Didi can address this matter."
Bengali actor and Member of Parliament, Dev, delivered what he referred to as his "final speech" in the Lok Sabha on February 8. He subsequently shared his address on social media with the caption: "My last day in Parliament."
