During the income tax dispute, Congress made big allegations against BJP.
Congress leader Ajay Maken voiced apprehensions regarding the withdrawal of ₹65 crore by the income tax department from party accounts.
"The Bharatiya Janata Party is extracting funds from Congress's bank accounts," remarked party leader KC Venugopal on Thursday, in response to the Income Tax department deducting ₹65.89 crore from AICC, Indian Youth Congress, and NSUI accounts. Venugopal highlighted that the Congress never subjected the BJP to such treatment during its tenure at the Centre. "They (BJP) are siphoning our funds from the banks...We too governed this country. If the BJP can cite any instance where they faced similar actions during the Congress-led UPA government or Congress government," he asserted.

KC Venugopal emphasized that the BJP, as a political party, has never paid any income tax. He characterized the income tax deduction as an assault on democratic principles and values. "They are attempting to silence the voice of India's opposition...This exemplifies dictatorship," he added.
