BJP reacts to Kejriwal's ‘peculiar’ CAA claim: ‘What kind of logic is this?’
BJP responds to Kejriwal's 'peculiar' CAA claim, questioning the rationale behind it. Expresses confusion and skepticism about the stated logic.
In response to Kejriwal's recent statement expressing concerns about job loss due to the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), Union Minister Prasad criticized the perceived lack of logic. Prasad emphasized that the CAA aims to protect those persecuted for their faith, asserting India's moral duty and constitutional rights. He reassured me that the legislation wouldn't affect jobs or citizenship.
Addressing communal tension and falsehoods surrounding the CAA, Prasad urged parties, particularly from south India, to refrain from spreading hatred. The Centre recently notified rules for CAA implementation, passed in 2019, expediting citizenship for non-Muslim migrants from Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan.
Kejriwal, however, accused the BJP-led government of engaging in divisive vote bank politics, suggesting a strategy to settle certain individuals strategically for political gain. He labelled it as a move to bolster the BJP's vote bank in politically weak constituencies. Kejriwal's remarks echo concerns about the potential misuse of the CAA for electoral advantages, framing it as a tactic to influence future elections. The ongoing debate reflects the polarized perspectives on the CAA's intent and consequences in the political landscape.
