Delhi Traffic Police releases advisory ahead of AAP's march to PM's residence. Check details

The Delhi Traffic Police has issued a warning ahead of the Aam Aadmi Party's planned 'gherao' of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's residence on Tuesday, protesting the arrest of the party's national convenor and Delhi chief minister, Arvind Kejriwal, by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in the liquor policy case. The advisory, applicable to the New Delhi district, does not explicitly mention the AAP protest but rather refers to a 'special Law & Order arrangement on 26.03.2024.' It urges the general public and motorists to remain patient, adhere to traffic regulations and road etiquette, and follow instructions from traffic personnel at intersections. The advisory includes links to the traffic police's website and its social media handles and provides helpline numbers for reference.

Key points of the advisory include:

1. No parking or stopping will be allowed on Tughlaq Road, Safdarjung Road, and Kemal Ataturk Marg, with general public entry prohibited.
2. Vehicles parked on these roads will be towed away, and owners will be prosecuted. They will be relocated to the Traffic Pit on Kali Bari Marg.
3. Possible diversion points include Aurobindo Chowk, Tughlaq Road, Samrat Hotel roundabout, Gymkhana Post Office roundabout, Teen Murti Haifa roundabout, Niti Marg roundabout, Kautilya Marg roundabout, Kemal Ataturk Marg, Safdarjung Road, Akbar Road, and Teen Murti Marg.
4. Commuters are advised to cooperate by avoiding these routes if possible and to utilize public transport to the fullest.
5. People travelling to inter-state bus terminals, railway stations, or international airports should leave with ample time in hand.
