Sachin Pilot reveals why he buried the hatchet with Ashok Gehlot.
Congress leader Sachin Pilot reconciles with Ashok Gehlot, emphasizing party unity. Sachin Pilot pledges support for Gehlot's son Vaibhav in Lok Sabha elections.
On Wednesday, Congress leader Sachin Pilot addressed the prospect of reconciliation with his senior colleague Ashok Gehlot, emphasizing that prioritizing unity was crucial for the party's welfare.
Pilot, the former deputy chief minister of Rajasthan, expressed his full commitment to campaigning for Gehlot's son Vaibhav in the Lok Sabha elections from Jalore.
Reflecting on the past exchanges, particularly Gehlot's 'nakara' remark aimed at him, Pilot chose to refrain from retaliating, opting instead for a stance of dignity and magnanimity. He underscored his adherence to a value system that advocates respect for elders and emphasized his refusal to engage in derogatory language or behavior unbecoming of a public figure.
Recalling a meeting in Delhi last year with party president Mallikarjun Kharge and former AICC chief Rahul Gandhi, Pilot mentioned being urged to forgive, forget, and move forward, a counsel he has since heeded, recognizing it as imperative for both the party and the state's interests.
The rift between Pilot and Gehlot became apparent in 2020 when 18 MLAs loyal to Pilot protested outside the Raj Bhavan. Although the rebellion was resolved through the intervention of the Gandhis, tensions persisted between the two Congress leaders throughout the government's tenure, stemming from the decision to appoint Gehlot over Pilot as the leader of Rajasthan following the 2018 assembly elections.
