Musk Says X Received US House Query on Brazil Actions

In a recent statement, Elon Musk revealed that social media platform X had received an inquiry from the U.S. House of Representatives regarding its actions in Brazil, which allegedly violated Brazilian law. According to Musk, the inquiry pertained to the suspension of accounts belonging to sitting members of the Brazilian parliament and numerous journalists.

The U.S. House's move follows an investigation initiated by Brazil Supreme Court judge Alexandre de Moraes, who ordered the blocking of certain X accounts. Moraes warned of fines amounting to 100,000 reais ($19,736.32) per day if X failed to comply with the order.

The dispute between Brazil and Musk arose when the billionaire, advocating for free speech, contested Moraes's decision to block specific accounts. Musk, emphasizing the importance of principles over profit, declared his intention to lift all restrictions on X (formerly Twitter) and called for Moraes's resignation.

Musk expressed frustration over the punitive measures imposed by Moraes, including hefty fines and threats of employee arrests, potentially leading to the closure of X's operations in Brazil.

As of now, neither the U.S. House nor X has issued further comments regarding the matter. The situation underscores the complex interplay between legal jurisdictions, free speech advocacy, and corporate governance in the digital age.
