TCS hires over 10,000 freshers from top engineering colleges.
TCS hires 10k+ freshers, buoyed by demand hopes. Recruiting for Ninja, Digital, Prime categories. NQT used for assessment.
TCS has injected vitality into the recruitment arena by enlisting over 10,000 fresh faces in its latest recruitment campaign, offering a much-needed relief from the prevailing hiring downturn. As reported by Moneycontrol, the tech behemoth has intensified its recruitment drive, fueled by optimism for a resurgence in demand in the upcoming fiscal year.
The report elaborates that TCS is actively seeking talent across three distinctive categories: Ninja, Digital, and Prime. The Ninja category presents a package of Rs 3.36 lakh per annum across various job roles. Meanwhile, the Digital and Prime categories offer annual compensation ranging from Rs 7 lakh to Rs 9-11.5 lakh.
In a notable development, VIT students have secured a total of 963 job offers, out of which 103 are specifically designated for the prime category. S. Vaidhyasubramaniam, the vice-chancellor of SASTRA University, informed Moneycontrol that the college has distributed 2,000 offer letters among 1,300 students. This implies that, on average, each student has received more than one offer. However, a detailed breakdown for students recruited by TCS was not provided. Colleges have indicated that students selected for Digital and Prime profiles will be placed in development roles, while those in Ninja profiles will assume support roles, as stated in the report.
In the preceding month, the foremost IT services firm in the nation disclosed its initiation of fresher recruitment through the National Qualifier Test (NQT), an assessment platform devised by TCS iON to evaluate candidates' cognitive abilities and skill proficiency.
Apart from Tata Group entities like TCS and Titan, companies such as Happiest Minds also leverage NQT for their recruitment endeavors. Initially, TCS announced its ambition to onboard 40,000 freshers in FY24. However, the company encountered a substantial decline, with only 22,600 employees added during FY23, marking a stark contrast to the net addition of 1.03 lakh employees in FY22.
This downturn marked the company’s lowest net headcount increase since FY15, during which it added 19,000 employees on a net basis for the year.
