'Surya Tilak' illuminates Ram Lalla idol's forehead at Ayodhya Temple on Ram Navami.

On the occasion of Ram Navami on Wednesday, April 17, the forehead of the Lord Ram Lalla idol in the Ayodhya Temple was adorned with the radiant 'Surya Tilak' (Sun’s rays). This effect was achieved through a sophisticated mechanism involving mirrors and lenses, which was tested by scientists the day before. This marked the first Ram Navami since the consecration of the Ram idol at the Ayodhya temple, which was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on January 22.

According to a senior scientist from the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)-Central Building Research Institute (CBRI), Roorkee, the planned size of the tilak was 58 mm. The duration of the tilak on the centre of the forehead was approximately three to three-and-a-half minutes, with two minutes of full illumination.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, addressing an election rally in Assam's Nalbari, acknowledged the historic significance of the day as Ram Lalla was to be anointed with the Surya Tilak. Amidst chants of ‘Jai Siyavar Ram’, the PM stated, “Today marks the historic occasion of Ram Navami. After a wait of 500 years, Lord Ram has been enshrined in his magnificent temple. In a few moments, Lord Ram will be adorned with the Surya Tilak and his birth anniversary will be celebrated in the sacred city of Ayodhya, in the Ram Temple.”

For the second time since the grand ceremony of Pran Pratishtha, the Ram Janmabhoomi witnessed a festive celebration. Ram Navami was celebrated at Ram Mandir with great fervour, featuring offerings of 56 types of bhog, prasad, and panjiri. Acharya Satyendra Das, the chief priest of Ram Janmabhoomi Temple, stated that all arrangements for the celebration were managed by the Trust, and the occasion of Ram Navami was being celebrated with immense enthusiasm.

The chief priest further elaborated that the entire temple was decorated, and the idol of Lord Ram was specially adorned for the day, dressed in yellow clothes and bathed with Panchamrit. Additionally, four types of panjiris and 56 types of offerings were made to the Lord.

The Shri Ram Janmbhoomi Teerth Kshetra, a trust responsible for managing the Shri Ram Janmbhoomi Mandir in Ayodhya, shared pictures on its official handle showcasing priests performing the Divya Abhisheka of Ramlalla Sarkar at the temple. The trust also shared images of the Divya Shringar of Lord Rama on this auspicious occasion.
