Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy's recent predictions regarding the Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) performance in the upcoming general election highlight his scepticism about the party's prospects in South India, particularly in states like Kerala and Tamil Nadu. Reddy foresees the BJP struggling to gain traction among South Indian voters, estimating that the party will secure fewer than 15 of the region's 130 Lok Sabha seats. Despite the BJP's concerted efforts to expand its presence in the southern states, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi making over a dozen visits to Kerala and Tamil Nadu, Reddy remains unconvinced that this will translate into significant electoral gains for the party. In contrast, Reddy expressed confidence in the performance of the INDIA bloc, predicting that it will secure between 115 and 120 of the 130 seats in the region.
He specifically highlighted Kerala, where he expects INDIA to win all 20 Lok Sabha seats, leaving the BJP with minimal support. Reddy's optimism about INDIA's prospects is grounded in recent electoral successes, particularly in Telangana, where the bloc performed well in the previous Assembly election. He believes that INDIA will secure 14 of the state's 17 Lok Sabha seats, indicating a strong base of support for the bloc in the region.
