Indian Railways will operate a record over 9,000 train journeys this summer as mass travel is expected.

To accommodate the increasing number of travelers looking for summer holidays, the Indian Railways has announced a substantial increase in train services for the season, marking a notable 43% surge compared to the previous year. The Railways Ministry disclosed plans for a record-breaking 9,111 train journeys slated for the summer period, a significant rise from the 6,369 trips offered in the summer of 2023, effectively meeting the escalating passenger requirements. These additional trains have been strategically scheduled to connect crucial destinations nationwide, ensuring smooth travel along major railway routes. Leading the initiative, the Western Railways will operate the highest number of trips at 1,878, closely followed by the North Western Railway with 1,623 trips. In anticipation of the summer travel influx, all zonal railways have intensified their efforts to accommodate these additional trips, catering to passengers from diverse states across India.

Continuously monitoring passenger demand through various channels such as media reports, social media platforms, and helpline services, the ministry remains vigilant in dynamically adjusting the number of trains and trips throughout the season. Apart from expanding train services, the ministry has instructed zonal railways to ensure the availability of drinking water at railway stations and has implemented comprehensive crowd control measures to efficiently manage passenger flow. With the deployment of Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel and the coordination of Government Railway Police (GRP) and RPF at foot-over bridges, Indian Railways aims to offer a secure and comfortable travel experience for all passengers during the summer season.

Tickets for these additional trains are available for booking through railway ticket counters or the IRCTC website/app.
