FMCG major Marico shares zoom nearly 10% after Q4 earnings.

Shares of Marico Ltd, a leading FMCG company, surged nearly 10 percent on Tuesday (May 7) following a reported 4.9 percent increase in consolidated net profit to Rs 320 crore in Q4. In the same quarter of the previous fiscal year, the company had recorded a consolidated net profit of Rs 305 crore.

Marico's stock soared 9.73 percent to Rs 582.75 on the BSE and rose 9.83 percent to Rs 582.45 on the NSE.

The company's consolidated revenue from operations for the quarter reached Rs 2,278 crore, compared to Rs 2,240 crore in the corresponding period last year. Total expenses decreased to Rs 1,894 crore from Rs 1,907 crore a year ago. In Q4 FY24, the domestic business saw a 3 percent increase in underlying volume growth.

Among sectoral indices, FMCG was the only Nifty sectoral index in positive territory, climbing over 1200 points to trade at 55,857.45. Pharma, metal, energy, and auto indices were the main underperformers in a highly volatile session. On Monday, both frontline indices, Sensex and Nifty 50, gave up gains to close nearly flat. Sensex edged up 17.39 points, or 0.02 percent, to settle at 73,895.54, while Nifty dipped 33.15 points, or 0.15 percent, to 22,442.70.
