New Delhi: The police have arrested a two-time gold medalist wrestler, Sumeet, wanted in connection with an attempted murder case, from the city's Mukarba Chowk bus stand, as confirmed on Wednesday.
Sumeet, a resident of the national capital, was apprehended after he, along with his four associates - Sagar, Nikhil, Dev, and Aniket - attempted to murder Vishnu on April 21.
The incident involved Sagar firing at Vishnu, though the bullet missed its mark. Subsequently, all five individuals fled from the scene.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime Branch), Satish Kaushik, stated that through manual intelligence gathering, it was determined that Sumeet was attempting to flee from Delhi to Haryana via bus from the Mukarba Chowk bus stand.
"A raid was conducted at the Mukarba Chowk bus stand, leading to Sumeet's arrest," said DCP Kaushik.
The DCP further disclosed that Sumeet had achieved significant success in wrestling, winning two gold medals at the state level.
