Sanju Samson got us worried…’: After backlash, DC owner Parth Jindal reveals reason behind animated celebration

Delhi Capitals' chairman and co-owner, Parth Jindal, expressed his emotions openly during his team's IPL 2024 match against the Rajasthan Royals. In a pivotal moment during the match, Jindal was seen celebrating wildly when Rajasthan Royals' captain Sanju Samson was given out, a decision that stirred controversy and turned the tide of the game. The incident occurred in the 16th over of the Rajasthan Royals' chase. Delhi Capitals' pacer Mukesh Kumar bowled a slower delivery, which Samson struck flat towards long-on, where Shai Hope was fielding. Hope managed to take a sharp catch but was perilously close to the boundary cushions when he completed the catch. The decision was referred to the third umpire, Michael Gough, who swiftly ruled in favor of Delhi Capitals, much to the dismay of Samson. The Rajasthan Royals' captain confronted the on-field umpires in a heated exchange. Cameras then captured Jindal in the stands,

making animated hand gestures towards Samson. Following the match, Jindal's reaction gained significant attention, with many criticizing him for his behavior. However, after the match, Jindal appeared in a more relaxed mood. He was seen smiling during a conversation with Samson and Rajasthan Royals' owner Manoj Badale. Delhi Capitals' official Twitter account shared a post stating, "Our Chairman and Co-owner, Parth Jindal, caught up with Rajasthan Royals' captain Sanju Samson & owner Manoj Badale, at the Arun Jaitley Stadium last night, after what was an exceptional contest of cricket. Parth also extended his congratulations to the RR skipper on being selected for the upcoming ICC Men's T20 World Cup." Responding to the tweet, Jindal explained that he was "extremely worried" when Samson was playing aggressively, which led to his animated reaction when Samson was dismissed. Jindal also mentioned that he congratulated Samson on his performance. "It was lovely interacting with Manoj and Sanju - it was incredible to witness his power hitting at the Kotla - he got us all extremely worried and hence the animated reaction when he was out! Had the pleasure of congratulating him as well. Great win by our boys!" Jindal wrote on X.
