AAP Leader Swati Maliwal Clashes with Security Officials at Delhi CM's Residence

In a dramatic turn of events, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Swati Maliwal has accused Bibhav Kumar, a close aide of party chief Arvind Kejriwal, of assaulting her inside the Delhi Chief Minister's residence located in the Civil Lines area. The accusation comes amid heightened tensions within the party, further exacerbated by a contentious 52-second mobile phone video that surfaced on Friday. The video briefly shows Maliwal in a heated exchange with security personnel who were instructing her to leave the premises.

Maliwal took to social media platform X (formerly known as Twitter) to express her outrage and hinted that the video was a deliberate attempt to deflect attention and discredit her allegations. She referred to a "political hitman" in her post, a term many believe is directed at Kejriwal. She accused this figure of orchestrating the release of the video to construct a narrative that would absolve the party and protect those involved in the alleged crime.

"Like every time... this political hitman has started efforts to save himself. By getting his people to tweet and play videos without any context, he thinks he can save himself (after) committing this crime," Maliwal wrote. She further questioned the credibility of the video, suggesting that the truth would be unveiled through the examination of CCTV footage from the residence.

Maliwal's post also included a vehement declaration: "Fall to whatever level you want... God is watching. One day, the truth will be revealed."

The video in question begins mid-argument, showing Maliwal seated on a couch while security officials urge her to leave. Maliwal, visibly agitated, refuses and insists on speaking with the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP). The security guard reassures her that the DCP will be informed but continues to request her to vacate the premises. Maliwal responds defiantly, threatening to escalate the matter to the Civil Lines Police Station, asserting that she will not be moved.

Throughout the video, Maliwal is adamant and confrontational, at one point saying, "And I will eat your job if you touch me." Despite the guard's polite requests, Maliwal maintains her stance, indicating she had already contacted the police emergency helpline for women in distress. She insists that the matter will be resolved on-site and challenges the guards to physically remove her if necessary.

This incident marks a significant breakdown in the relationship between Maliwal and the AAP. The party, in response, shared the video with a pointed message: "The truth of Swati Maliwal." This terse statement underscores the growing rift and suggests an effort to discredit her claims.

The Delhi Police, which has registered a case against Bibhav Kumar based on Maliwal's complaint, confirmed they received two emergency calls from within Kejriwal's residence. While the calls were from a number registered to Maliwal, the caller did not identify themselves. This adds another layer of complexity to the unfolding drama.

Late Thursday evening, Maliwal, who had been unreachable for most of the day, met with a police team at her home to record her statement. In the closing moments of the video, Maliwal can be heard daring the guards to eject her physically, cursing at one of them, which provokes a reprimand. "Madam, you cannot speak like this," the guard says, to which Maliwal retorts, "Just because you have a CCTV camera..."

This incident has not only sparked a political storm but also brought to light the deepening fractures within the AAP. As the investigation progresses, all eyes are on the Delhi Police and the evidence, including the much-discussed CCTV footage, which could potentially corroborate or refute Maliwal's serious allegations. The public and political circles alike are awaiting clarity on the events that transpired inside the Chief Minister's residence and the implications it holds for the AAP leadership.
