Lok Sabha election: Uttar Pradesh records 47.55% voter turnout till 3pm
Voting in 14 Uttar Pradesh constituencies for the fifth phase of the Lok Sabha elections is ongoing, with a 47.55% turnout by 5 pm. Barabanki leads with 55.35% turnout.
Voting is currently underway for the 14 Lok Sabha seats in Uttar Pradesh as part of the fifth phase of the seven-phase general elections. By 5 pm, the voter turnout for this phase had reached approximately 47.55 percent.
The polling began at 7 am and is set to conclude by 6 pm. The 14 constituencies involved in this phase are Mohanlalganj, Lucknow, Rae Bareli, Amethi, Jalaun, Jhansi, Hamirpur, Banda, Fatehpur, Barabanki, Kaushambi, Faizabad, Kaiserganj, and Gonda. Uttar Pradesh, the state with the largest representation in the 543-member Lok Sabha, is conducting its polling across all phases, similar to West Bengal and Bihar.
The Election Commission of India (ECI) provided specific turnout figures for each constituency. Barabanki had the highest turnout at 55.35 percent as of 3 pm, followed by Jhansi with 52.53 percent, Mohanlalganj with 51.08 percent, Hamirpur with 48.87 percent, Faizabad with 48.66 percent, and Banda with 48.08 percent. Other constituencies reported the following turnout percentages: Fatehpur at 47.25 percent, Rae Bareli at 47.83 percent, Jalaun at 46.22 percent, Amethi at 45.13 percent, Gonda at 43.23 percent, Kaushambi at 43.01 percent, Lucknow at 41.90 percent, and Kaiserganj at 46.01 percent.
