New Medical College in Jamshedpur To Be Launched with 100 MBBS Seats.
Jamshedpur is set to establish a second medical college in East Singhbhum, offering 100 MBBS seats within the Khasmahal Sadar Hospital.
Jamshedpur is set to welcome a second medical college to boost medical education in Jharkhand. This new institution will offer 100 MBBS seats and will be located in the East Singhbhum district, specifically within the Khasmahal Sadar Hospital premises. This initiative is part of a broader plan to establish additional medical colleges in Sadar hospitals across districts such as Khunti, Bokaro, Sahibganj, Ramgarh, and Giridih.
The Jharkhand Health Department has submitted a proposal to the National Medical Commission (NMC) for the establishment of this new government medical college in Jamshedpur, according to Medical Dialogues.
Recently, Jamshedpur Sadar Hospital underwent a comprehensive inspection to gather the necessary data for the NMC and to secure the Letter of Permission (LOP) required for establishing the college. Ajay Kumar Singh, the health secretary of Jamshedpur, led this inspection to evaluate the hospital's facilities and infrastructure.
For the new medical college to obtain a license, it must meet specific requirements, including adequate infrastructure, facilities, and a 320-bed capacity for patients. Currently, Jharkhand has several medical colleges in Jamshedpur, Dhanbad, Ranchi, Palamu, Dumka, and Hazaribagh. The proposed colleges in Bokaro, Ramgarh, Sahibganj, Khunti, and Giridih aim to further enhance medical education in the state.
