NEET-UG case: CBI arrests key conspirator from Jharkhand's Dhanbad.
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has made multiple arrests in connection with the NEET-UG paper leak case, including key conspirators and school officials.
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arrested Aman Singh on Wednesday in Dhanbad, Jharkhand, identifying him as a key conspirator in the NEET-UG paper leak case. This marks the seventh arrest made by the agency in connection with this investigation.
Earlier, on Sunday, the CBI had apprehended the owner of a private school in Godhra district, Gujarat. Dixit Patel, the owner of Jay Jalaram School near Godhra in Panchmahal district, was accused of soliciting between ₹5 lakh and ₹10 lakh from candidates, with promises to improve their examination scores.
According to the Gujarat Police, Patel advised candidates not to attempt questions they were unsure of. The suspects allegedly planned to complete the answer sheets for 27 students, charging each ₹10 lakh after the exam.
On June 29, the CBI arrested Jamaluddin Ansari, a marketing professional with a Hindi media organization, in Hazaribagh. This arrest followed the earlier apprehensions of Oasis School's principal, Ehsanul Haque, and vice-principal, Imtiaz Alam. Haque had been appointed as the city coordinator by the National Testing Agency (NTA) for the NEET-UG 2024, according to officials.
The NTA, responsible for conducting the NEET-UG examination on May 5, has faced criticism over alleged irregularities, leading to widespread protests and demands from demonstrators and political parties to disband the agency.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has promised strict action against those involved in the alleged NEET-UG irregularities. Responding to the Motion of Thanks on the President’s address in the Rajya Sabha, he said, “The President mentioned the paper leak in her speech. I expect the entire house to rise above politics and discuss the issue. Unfortunately, it’s being politicized, which is concerning for the country’s future.”
