ChatGPT Is Now Used By More Than 90 Percent Offices In India: How Are You Using AI For Work?

ChatGPT debuted in 2022, and since then, the AI market has seen significant growth. Initially, Indians were slow to adopt the AI chatbot, but a new report indicates that ChatGPT is now utilized in over 90 percent of Indian offices, which rely on it for various tasks.

India Inc is increasingly investing billions into integrating AI tools into their operations. The latest data from DeskTime suggests that the workforce is well-prepared for this AI transition. The data, collected from 297 companies employing over 14,000 people, spans from January 2023 to March 2024. This indicates a steady increase in the adoption of AI tools like ChatGPT, encouraging companies to upskill and upgrade their employees.

As of March 2024, the report shows that more than 40 percent of the Indian workforce actively uses ChatGPT, though it doesn't specify their primary use cases. The AI chatbot offers a wide range of features, from answering basic queries to handling complex prompts. Those lagging behind in AI adoption will need to upgrade their skills to ensure they remain relevant in the evolving job market.

Tech giants like Google and Meta have already laid off employees and replaced them with AI, but there remains a significant portion of the industry that can coexist with AI advancements. While AI is becoming integral to work setups, the hardware still needs to catch up with these advanced models. Companies like Intel, Apple, and Qualcomm are working on the evolution of AI PCs, while Google, Apple, and Meta are developing mobile use cases for AI on more affordable devices.

Apple is also partnering with OpenAI to bring ChatGPT to macOS and iPhones. Although there was a recent issue where ChatGPT exposed macOS users' chats in plain text, a recent update has resolved this problem.
