Indian man puts live 2-foot eel up his anus, it chews through his intestines
An Indian man in Vietnam nearly died after inserting a live eel into his anus. The eel chewed through his intestines, necessitating emergency surgery for removal.
On July 27, a 31-year-old Indian man found himself in a life-threatening situation after inserting a live eel into his anus. The incident, which took place in Vietnam, led to the man experiencing severe abdominal pain and seeking medical assistance at Viet Duc Hospital in Hanoi.
According to Vietnam News, the man presented with intense abdominal discomfort, prompting immediate medical evaluation. Initial assessments included several imaging tests, such as an ultrasound and X-rays, which revealed the eel's presence inside the man's abdominal cavity.
The eel, measuring about 2 feet in length, had chewed through the man’s intestines, necessitating urgent medical intervention. The medical team, comprising endoscopy experts and anesthesiologists, initially attempted to extract the eel through the anus. However, their efforts were impeded by an unexpected obstacle: the man had also inserted a large lemon, which blocked the path and complicated the procedure.
Faced with this challenge, the doctors decided that emergency surgery was the only viable option. Upon surgically opening the man's abdomen, they discovered the live eel, which was approximately 65 cm long and 10 cm in circumference.
This unusual and risky act had put the man’s life in grave danger. The prompt and coordinated response by the medical team at Viet Duc Hospital was crucial in addressing the severe complications caused by the eel’s presence inside the abdominal cavity. The successful removal of the eel likely saved the man from potentially fatal outcomes.
