Will Rishabh Pant, who is injured, bat in the second innings of the first Test between India and New Zealand in Bengaluru?

Ind vs NZ: With Rishabh Pant not taking the field to keep wickets on Day 3 of the first Test in Bengaluru, questions are rising about whether he will bat. Pant was struck on the knee by a ball and had to leave the ground on Thursday. India captain Rohit Sharma provided an update on Pant's condition, noting that he was hit on the knee that had previously undergone surgery. Rohit indicated that the situation doesn't look promising, and it seems unlikely Pant will bat in the second innings. Although there’s no official confirmation, this appears to be the current outlook.

"Unfortunately, it’s the knee. The ball hit his kneecap, on the leg he had surgery on. There’s some swelling and tenderness in the muscles right now. It’s a precautionary measure," Rohit stated during the post-match press conference.

PANT'S IMPORTANCE
The team needs to closely assess the severity of Rishabh's injury, as his presence will be crucial for the upcoming tour to Australia for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy series. A significant injury to the star wicketkeeper-batter could disrupt India's plans as they move forward in their red-ball schedule, leading up to the World Test Championship Final.

Fans are hoping to see Pant bat in the second innings, as the hosts are currently struggling in the ongoing Test at M. Chinnaswamy.
