Users of One UI 7 may experience difficulty downloading Edge Panels from the Galaxy Store.
Samsung's upcoming One UI 7 update, based on Android 15, may prevent users from downloading Edge Panels from the Galaxy Store.
Samsung's One UI 7, which the company describes as one of its most significant updates to date, is almost here. Based on Android 15, this upcoming update introduces numerous new features. However, rumors suggest that following the discontinuation of the Dex app for Windows, One UI 7 may prevent users from downloading Edge Panels from the Galaxy Store.
Edge Panels, which were introduced over a decade ago, provide quick access to frequently used apps, widgets, and information such as weather, clipboard, and more, with a simple swipe from any screen. A recent post by users on X (formerly Twitter) reveals that Samsung has notified some users that, after updating to One UI 7, they “will no longer be able to download Edge Panels from the Galaxy Store.” The good news is that the notification also mentions that any Edge Panels previously downloaded will remain available in the “My apps” section of the Galaxy Store.
Additionally, Edge Panels downloaded before updating to One UI 7 will still be accessible, but if you uninstall a panel, there will be no way to re-download it. If you buy a device that comes with One UI 7 pre-installed, you will still be able to download your previously acquired panels from the Galaxy Store. It's also worth noting that Edge Panels aren't the only feature Samsung is removing with One UI 7. The company recently updated its DeX support page, announcing that the DeX for Windows app will no longer be supported in the upcoming update.
