The most significant benefits for India will come with the resurgence of emerging market inflows, according to Vikash Jain from CLSA.
Explore the insights of CLSA's Vikash Jain as he highlights that India stands to gain the most with the revival of emerging market inflows. Gain valuable perspectives on the potential impacts on India's economic landscape.
Despite foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) resuming their buying activity in the Indian stock markets with net inflows of $4.7 billion in December, the robustness and expansiveness of the domestic market are anticipated to attract a greater influx of India-dedicated funds in the near future. This trend emerges as more global funds redirect their focus toward emerging markets, exercising caution with regard to China.
CLSA India Strategist Vikash Jain notes that even during months when FPIs were selling Indian shares, India-dedicated funds remained consistent buyers, showcasing a sustained interest. He emphasizes the growing presence of India-dedicated funds, predicting a gradual shift toward a market where mid- and small-cap segments flourish.
Jain highlights India as a stock picker's market, emphasizing its well-diversified nature with representation across various sectors within benchmark indices. He contends that this aspect, which is yet to be fully recognized by global investors, positions India as a unique market. According to Jain, India's market dynamics involve considerable volatility (around 20%), making it suitable for those who can navigate such fluctuations.
He further elaborates that among all global markets, India stands out with 230 stocks trading over $10 million in cash daily, ranking fifth in this regard. Jain projects a significant growth trajectory for India, foreseeing the market expanding to $6 trillion within the next five years.
