Kim Jong Un's Warning: North Korea's Leader Threatens 'Nuclear Attack' in Response to Provocation with Nuclear Weapons
North Korean leader Kim Jong Un warns of a nuclear attack in response to provocation, amidst recent ICBM tests. Tensions rise as global leaders call for dialogue.
North Korean leader Kim Jong Un asserted that Pyongyang would not hesitate to initiate a nuclear attack if provoked by an enemy using nuclear weapons, according to state media on Thursday. Kim made these remarks while meeting with soldiers from the military’s missile bureau, praising them for a recent intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) launch. He emphasized that the test showcased the armed forces' loyalty and strong stance, highlighting the nation's nuclear strategy evolution not to shy away from a nuclear counterattack when provoked. The United States, South Korea, and Japan jointly condemned North Korea's recent ballistic missile launches and urged substantive dialogue without preconditions. In response, Kim's sister, Kim Yo Jong, criticized the UN Security Council for discussing the ICBM launch, asserting the country's right to self-defence. The US, South Korea, and Japan conducted a joint air drill near the Korean peninsula to enhance defence readiness.
