Four arrested for murder after fatal stabbing in central London
After a fatal stabbing in central London, four individuals have been arrested for murder, as law enforcement intensifies its investigation into the tragic incident.
Two men and two women have been taken into custody on suspicion of murder following a fatal stabbing in central London during the early hours of Boxing Day. Authorities responded to a stabbing incident on Cranwood Street in Shoreditch, near Old Street underground station, at around 3:10 am on Tuesday. Despite receiving treatment for stab wounds, a 49-year-old man succumbed to his injuries.
The individuals arrested, including two men aged 49 and 42, and two women aged 35 and 44, were apprehended on suspicion of murder and remained in custody as of midday on Tuesday. The Metropolitan police indicated that the murder investigation is ongoing, with family liaison officers in contact with the victim's next of kin. This incident marked the third fatal stabbing in London within a week.
In a separate, unrelated occurrence on Christmas Day, a 16-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of murder after a woman was fatally stabbed in Bermondsey, South London, on Christmas Eve. Responding to reports of a 22-year-old womanwith a stab injury at a residence on Jamaica Road around 10 pm, emergency services attempted to provide emergency first aid, but the victim succumbed to her injuries. The arrested teenager, known to the victim, remains in custody at a south London police station.
In another unrelated incident, a 22-year-old man was arrested on Christmas Eve in connection with the fatal stabbing of27-year-old Michael Peixoto in Croydon on December 19. The man is under police custody with a warrant allowing detention until Wednesday morning
