Delhi has granted permission to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to investigate a corruption case involving ₹223 crore.

Lt Governor VK Saxena has granted authorization for a CBI investigation into two officials from the Delhi government's Forests and Wildlife department in connection with an alleged corruption case amounting to Rs 223 crore, as reported by Raj Niwas officials on Wednesday.

Additionally, in a separate case, Saxena has given the Anti-Corruption Branch the green light to conduct an inquiry against two senior nurses from a Delhi government hospital, involving an alleged bribery case of Rs 60,000, according to the officials. In both instances, Saxena endorsed the investigation proposals under Section 17A of the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act.

Raj Niwas officials noted that Lt Governor Saxena expressed the view that it is in the interest of justice to pursue investigations and inquiries against the accused. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has registered a case against Parasnath Yadav and Alam Singh Rawat, the then senior account officer and assistant account officer, respectively, in the Forests and Wildlife department. They are accused of conspiring with LA Khan, the former senior branch manager of Bank of Baroda's Paharganj branch, and others.
