Pakistan reacts to the consecration of Ram Temple in Ayodhya

Pakistan has strongly criticized the consecration of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, denouncing it as a manifestation of India's growing majoritarianism. The foreign office, in a statement, condemned the ceremony, linking it to the destruction of the Babri mosque by a "mob of extremists." Pakistan expressed disappointment with India's judiciary for not only acquitting those responsible for the mosque's demolition but also permitting the construction of a temple at the site.

The statement from Pakistan's foreign ministry lamented the developments of the past 31 years, leading to the consecration ceremony, highlighting them as indicative of the rise of majoritarianism in India. It claimed that these events are part of broader efforts to marginalize Indian Muslims socially, economically, and politically.

Furthermore, Pakistan asserted that the mosque's demolition and the subsequent construction of the temple represent a stain on India's democracy. The statement cited a perceived threat to other mosques, such as the Gyanvapi Mosque in Varanasi and Shahi Eidgah Mosque in Mathura, suggesting a pattern of potential desecration and destruction.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi presided over the consecration ceremony, attended by numerous dignitaries and locals. Various politicians, actors, and sports stars participated in the installation ceremony of Lord Ram's idol in the newly constructed temple.

The Supreme Court of India, in 2019, acknowledged evidence supporting the existence of a Hindu temple at the Babri site and permitted the construction of the temple on the disputed land. The court also ordered the allocation of a separate parcel of land for the construction of a grand mosque. Pakistan's response reflects diplomatic tensions and concerns over religious minority rights in India.
