Kharge writes to Shah over Rahul Gandhi's Yatra: ‘Police allowed BJP workers…’

Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge wrote to Union Home Minister Amit Shah expressing deep concerns over alleged security lapses during Rahul Gandhi's Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra in Assam. Kharge asserted that Assam Police failed to provide adequate security, prioritizing BJP posters over Yatra participants' safety. He highlighted incidents, including the Sonitpur assault on Congress' social media team and Jairam Ramesh's vehicle, alleging BJP workers, influenced by Himanta Biswa Sarma, were involved. Kharge referred to the January 21 attack on Assam Congress president Bhupen Kumar Borah during an outreach program. Kharge, who joined the Yatra on Sunday, accused Assam Police of allowing BJP workers to breach Rahul Gandhi's security, expressing disappointment over the lack of arrests and investigations.
