Shark Tank India-3: This startup shortens interviews, engineers earn lakhs in 7 days
Intervue, an HR tech platform featured on Shark Tank India-3, impresses with its innovative approach, reducing hiring time from 45 to 7 days.
Shark Tank India-3 often features startups that surprise the sharks with their unique ideas. In the second episode of the third season, a startup named "Intervue" caught the attention of the sharks, leaving them intrigued. Although Vinita Singh opted out of the deal, she expressed admiration for the founders. Namita Thapar, however, was not impressed with the startup's idea.
Interview, founded by Rahul Aroda from Ludhiana and Pushpendra Singh Rautela from Ghaziabad, operates as an HR tech platform specializing in hiring for companies. Rahul explained the challenges in hiring software engineers, stating that the extensive technical rounds often lead to delays in the hiring process. Interview acts as a marketplace where companies like Google, Facebook, and Amazon conduct interviews for other companies, earning money for their services.
The startup claims to reduce the hiring time from the usual 45 days to just 7 days. Candidates, including engineers, use the platform during their free time, even on weekends, to earn extra income by participating in interviews. The founders, who met on Paytm, have envisioned expanding the platform beyond technical hiring to non-tech areas in the future.
Engineers using the platform can earn substantial additional income, with some reportedly making up to 2.5 lakhs per month. Interview offers several features to enhance transparency, such as live typing detection, video recording of the entire session, and transcripts for later review. The platform generates reports, allowing companies to assess candidates and track their performance.
In terms of financials, Intervue earned 88 lakhs in the fiscal year 2021-22, with expectations of reaching 13-15 crores in 2023-24. The company's EBITDA currently stands at 5-8%. The founders expressed their readiness to raise an A-series round, with Deepinder suggesting they do it right away. Despite Aman Gupta offering 5 crores in funding for 10% equity, Deepinder proposed conducting the A-series round on the spot. Ultimately, Aman Gupta secured the deal with 2% equity for a funding amount of 1.5 crores, resulting in a valuation of 75 crores for Intervue.
