Himanta Biswa Sarma unveils a bold road connectivity initiative for Assam.

On the microblogging site X, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma declared the government's determination to bridge road infrastructure gaps across Assam, ensuring seamless connectivity, and uniting communities through various ongoing development projects.

Highlighting the state government's commitment to enhancing road infrastructure, Chief Minister Sarma emphasized numerous schemes aimed at fostering connectivity throughout Assam.

The government actively participates in the development of roads through various schemes to establish a robust network for the people of Assam. This initiative aims to diminish travel times, improve accessibility, and bolster economic growth across the state.

A significant project, Assom Mala 1.0, inaugurated by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi on February 7, 2021, has played a crucial role in road infrastructure development. Noteworthy roads encompass Palasbari Mirza Chandubi, Nahar Ali, and major bridges over the Dikrong and Subansiri rivers. With an investment of Rs 1,859 crore utilized till 2023, this initiative has notably contributed to the state's connectivity.

The ASRIP focuses on enhancing road corridors, encompassing a total length of 247 km in 8 packages. Prominent roads include Dhodor Ali, with bridges over Subansiri, among others. The project has witnessed an investment of ₹380 crore utilized to date, underscoring the government's dedication to improving secondary road networks.

Addressing the connectivity requirements of diverse regions, the ASCCIP covers 6 road corridors spanning 312.5 km in 11 packages. The development extends to areas such as Dima Hasao, Karbi Anglong, BTR, and Barak Valley. The utilization of Rs 534 crore till 2023 underscores the initiative's success in promoting economic cooperation and connectivity.
