Elvish Yadav Arrested in Snake Venom Case

Elvish Yadav, a well-known YouTuber, OTT Bigg Boss 2 Winner and television personality, was among six individuals named in an FIR filed at Sector 49 police station on November 3. He was arrested by the Noida Police on Sunday in connection with a case involving the use of snake venom as a recreational drug at a party last year. Yadav was subsequently sent to 14-day judicial custody by a local court. The police later disclosed the reasons behind his arrest.

According to Noida DCP Vidya Sagar Mishra, Elvish Yadav was summoned for questioning on Sunday afternoon but was uncooperative. The police officer stated that the Gurugram resident had withheld information during the interrogation.

"Elvish Yadav was summoned for questioning today in a case related to the Wildlife Protection Act. It was discovered that he was concealing information during the interrogation," the officer stated.
He mentioned that Elvish Yadav was presented before the court with an increase in sections of the NDPS Act in the case.
"A case under the Wild Life Protection Act-1972 was registered (against Elvish Yadav and others). Today, he was summoned for interrogation and was presented before the court with an increase in sections of the NDPS Act in the said case," he added.

Elvish Yadav was one of six individuals named in the FIR filed at Sector 49 police station on November 3. Apart from Yadav, all other accused were arrested and later released on bail.
The case was registered under provisions of the Wildlife Protection Act, 1972, and for criminal conspiracy under section 120B of the Indian Penal Code.
The snake venom case was subsequently transferred from Sector 49 to Sector 20 police station for further investigation.

"The accused has been arrested by a team from Sector 20 police station which was investigating the case," Additional DCP (Noida) Manish Mishra told PTI.

Key details of the snake venom case

People For Animals (PFA) filed the original complaint in the case.
On November 3, five individuals were arrested at a banquet hall in Sector 51. Nine snakes, including five cobras, were rescued from their possession. Vials of snake venom were also seized.
Elvish Yadav claimed that he was not present at the party.
PFA chairperson and BJP leader Maneka Gandhi, however, accused Elvish Yadav of being involved in the illegal sale of snake venom.
