‘INDIA’ bloc to hold a protest rally on March 31 against Arvind Kejriwal's arrest.

The INDIA bloc's opposition will convene a large-scale rally on March 31, as announced by Delhi minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Gopal Rai on Sunday.

The announcement of the rally comes amidst the intense confrontation between the opposition and the Narendra Modi government, particularly following the arrest of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in connection with the excise policy case. Rai expressed sentiments of concern, stating, "The arrest of Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal has stirred emotions among those across the nation who cherish and uphold the constitution. It's not merely about Arvind Kejriwal; it appears to be a systematic effort to dismantle the entire opposition." Speaking at the briefing of INDIA bloc leaders, Rai further accused Prime Minister Modi of misusing central agencies, orchestrating MLA defections, and fabricating cases against dissenters.

Delhi minister Saurabh Bharadwaj emphasized the historical significance of Ramlila Maidan, stating, "Ramlila Maidan has been witness to monumental movements in our country's history. AAP itself emerged from Ramlila Maidan... Senior leaders from various INDIA parties will participate in the rally and address the nation."

Delhi Congress chief Arvinder Singh Lovely echoed concerns about the state of democracy, declaring, "Democracy is under threat. Our leader, Congress MP Rahul Gandhi, is leading the fight to safeguard democracy. We stand firmly with the allies of the INDIA alliance." He emphasized that the March 31 'maha rally' would not only be a political event but also a clarion call to protect the nation's democracy and voice opposition against the BJP-led Central government.
