BRS leader K Kavitha taken to Tihar Jail following court order: Officials
BRS leader K Kavitha sent to Tihar Jail till April 9 on ED's plea, amid money-laundering case.
According to prison officials, BRS leader K Kavitha has been transferred to Tihar Jail following a Delhi court's decision on Tuesday to remand her to judicial custody until April 9. This decision came in response to a plea from the Enforcement Directorate (ED), which expressed concerns that if released, the "highly influential" detainee might interfere with witnesses and tamper with evidence.
The 46-year-old leader of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) was apprehended by the central probe agency in connection with a money-laundering case linked to the Delhi excise policy on March 15.
An official stated, "She has been admitted to Tihar Jail and will be housed in jail number 6, designated for female inmates. A medical examination will be conducted upon her arrival."
Initially, Kavitha was remanded to the custody of the ED for seven days on March 16. Subsequently, her remand was extended by three days on Saturday.
