India, China Discuss "Complete Disengagement" Along LAC In Fresh Border Talks

India and China recently conducted the 29th meeting of the Working Mechanism for Consultation and Coordination on India-China Border Affairs. Held in Beijing on March 27, the meeting focused on achieving "complete disengagement" and resolving remaining issues along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in the Western Sector. The Joint Secretary (East Asia) from the Indian Ministry of External Affairs led the Indian delegation, while the Chinese delegation was headed by the Director General of the Boundary and Oceanic Department of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Both sides engaged in extensive discussions during the meeting. They agreed to maintain regular contact through diplomatic and military channels and emphasized the importance of upholding peace and tranquillity along the border areas as per existing bilateral agreements and protocols. The discussions aimed at fostering a conducive environment for resolving border tensions and maintaining stability in the region.
