Dubai flood: Air India cancels flights due to heavy rain, offers refunds

Air India has announced the cancellation of its flights to and from Dubai due to operational disruptions caused by continuous heavy rainfall. The airline stated on Friday its efforts to accommodate affected passengers on upcoming flights once operations resume. Passengers holding valid tickets for travel until April 21 will receive a one-time waiver for rescheduling and full refunds for cancellations.

The announcement, shared on social media platform X, expressed regret for the cancellations and assured passengers of re-accommodation as soon as operations permit. For further assistance, passengers were directed to contact the 24/7 Contact Centre at 011-69329333 / 011-69329999 or visit the Air India website.

This decision coincides with the heavy rains that have battered the United Arab Emirates, leading to flood-like situations. In response, the Indian Embassy in Abu Dhabi advised Indian travellers to reschedule non-essential travel until flight operations normalize. The Indian consulate in Dubai activated emergency helpline numbers to aid passengers, while Dubai International Airport temporarily restricted inbound flights due to unprecedented weather conditions.

The Consulate General of India in Dubai reassured on Thursday their ongoing coordination with UAE authorities and airlines to facilitate connections for stranded Indian passengers. They also highlighted collaborative relief efforts with Indian community organizations.
