OpenAI, the creator of ChatGPT, has appointed its inaugural employee in India, as reported by Bloomberg. This appointment comes amidst India's ongoing Lok Sabha elections, which will determine the next government responsible for shaping AI regulations in the nation.

Backed by Microsoft, OpenAI has enlisted Pragya Misra to spearhead public policy affairs and partnerships in India. Misra, aged 39, brings experience from her previous roles as the public affairs head at Truecaller and leading WhatsApp's anti-misinformation campaign at Meta in 2018.

According to the Bloomberg report, Misra is slated to commence her role at OpenAI by the end of this month.
