Renukaswamy murder case: Darshan Thoogudeepa sent to judicial custody till July 4

In a shocking turn of events, Kannada actor Darshan Thoogudeepa has been remanded to judicial custody until July 4, 2023, in connection with the Renukaswamy murder case. The Bengaluru Economical Offences Special Court issued this order, which also applies to Darshan's alleged accomplices Vinay, Pradosh, and Dhanaraj.

The case has captivated public attention since Darshan's initial detention on June 11. The actor and his co-accused face serious charges related to the abduction and murder of Renukaswamy, a fan of the actor. According to police sources, the motivation behind this brutal crime was the obscene messages Renukaswamy had allegedly sent to Darshan's friend, Pavithra Gowda, which infuriated Darshan and led to the tragic incident.

On June 8, Renukaswamy was abducted from Chitradurga, and his ordeal ended with his death after reportedly being tortured by Darshan and his aides. His body was discovered on June 9 near a stormwater drain adjacent to an apartment in Sumanahalli. This gruesome murder has led to the arrest of 17 individuals, including Darshan, Pavithra Gowda, and several others closely associated with the actor.

The police have been meticulously investigating the case, uncovering disturbing details. A recent remand note presented in court on June 21 revealed that Pavithra Gowda had physically assaulted Renukaswamy with her slippers. The investigation has also led to the seizure of significant evidence from Pavithra’s residence, including slippers, clothing, and other materials linked to the crime. Additionally, an 'Electric Shock Torch,' allegedly used by Darshan's gang member Dhanaraj alias Raja to torture the victim, was recovered from his house.

The police are also seeking to retrieve deleted Instagram messages shared by Renukaswamy, and they are contemplating approaching Meta, the parent company of Instagram, for assistance in this matter. These messages could potentially provide crucial insights into the events leading up to the murder.

Further complicating the case, Darshan reportedly admitted to borrowing ₹40 lakh to tamper with evidence related to the murder. This revelation has only intensified the scrutiny on the actor and his associates. The alleged premeditation and efforts to conceal evidence underscore the severity of the charges they face.

Adding another layer of tragedy to the case, Darshan’s manager reportedly committed suicide at the actor’s Bengaluru farmhouse, leaving behind a note and video. This incident has raised further questions and speculations about the extent of involvement and the pressure surrounding those connected to the case.

The legal proceedings have been extensive. On June 19, thirteen other accused, including Pavithra Gowda, were remanded to 14 days of judicial custody. These individuals, like Darshan, face significant legal battles ahead as the investigation continues to unravel more details about the crime.

The public and media have been closely following the developments of this high-profile case. The involvement of a prominent actor has brought significant attention to the legal process and the investigative measures being undertaken by the police.

In the midst of this legal turmoil, the families of both the victim and the accused are undoubtedly experiencing immense distress. The judicial system’s next steps will be crucial in ensuring justice is served and that the truth behind Renukaswamy’s murder is fully uncovered.

The Bengaluru Economical Offences Special Court’s decision to remand Darshan Thoogudeepa and his alleged accomplices to judicial custody till July 4 is a pivotal moment in this ongoing investigation. As more details emerge and the court proceedings continue, the public remains keenly interested in the resolution of this tragic and complex case.
