Puja Khedkar's district training put on hold, says Maharashtra govt.

The Maharashtra government announced on Tuesday that Puja Khedkar, a controversial Indian Administrative Services (IAS) probationer, has had her district training suspended. This decision came after the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration (LBSNAA) in Mussoorie recalled her for unspecified "further necessary action," according to a letter from Maharashtra's additional chief secretary Nitin Gadre. Khedkar, who belongs to the Maharashtra cadre, faces allegations of using fraudulent means to clear her UPSC Civil Services Examination. These allegations include misrepresenting herself under the physical disabilities and OBC categories, as well as misusing authority during her posting in Pune.

The Pune Police has initiated an inquiry into the authenticity of medical certificates submitted by Khedkar. A senior police official stated, "We have received a directive from the Office of the Commissioner For Persons With Disabilities to verify the authenticity of certificates submitted by Puja Khedkar. We will thoroughly investigate the origin of these certificates, including the issuing doctors and hospitals." Additionally, a single-member panel appointed by the Centre is tasked with verifying Khedkar's candidacy and is expected to submit a report within two weeks.

In response to the ongoing probe, Khedkar remarked on Monday that she believes "truth will prevail." She expressed frustration with what she termed a media trial, emphasizing her commitment to her duties as a probationer in Washim. She declined to comment further, stating that the government committee overseeing the matter will make the final determination.
