In a positive development for Delhi residents, the first segment of the Delhi-Dehradun Expressway, which stretches from Akshardham to the Eastern Peripheral Expressway (EPE), is anticipated to be operational by November. This new 32-kilometer stretch includes an impressive 19 kilometers of elevated road designed to alleviate the daily traffic congestion experienced by commuters between Delhi and Uttar Pradesh.
The expressway features a six-lane service road for local traffic and an elevated lane for long-distance travel. According to an official, this setup will not only streamline traffic flow but also provide relief to local commuters by dividing traffic more efficiently.
The expressway will offer seven access points for travel towards Uttar Pradesh: Akshardham, Geeta Colony, Shamshan Ghat (Kailash Nagar), Sonia Vihar, Vijay Vihar, and Mandola. Travelers can exit at Mandola, Sonia Vihar, Vijay Vihar, and Khajuri Chowk. For those traveling from Uttar Pradesh to Delhi, entry points will be at Mandola, Vijay Vihar, and 5th Pushta, with exits available at Mandola, Loni, Vijay Vihar, Usmanpur, Shamshan Ghat (Kailash Nagar), Geeta Colony, and Akshardham. Notably, there will be no toll charges for entering or exiting the expressway in Delhi.
